Presentation
A Milken National Educator Award recipient, Margo Sorenson is happy to speak to young readers, community groups, and educators. She has presented to school children of all ages, to teachers through in-service workshops and graduate studies, and to numerous community and service groups, and is delighted to help with their fund-raising. She enjoys sharing the development of her books, including childhood influences on her writing process, the ways in which she generates story ideas, as well as the plots and characters which make her books appealing to readers, and the importance of revision – sharing her 21 pounds of rejection letters! She will tailor talks and workshops on writing specifically for each audience and welcomes pre-presentation input. Margo says it’s fun being “deep cover” for teachers who have objectives they want reinforced for their students!

"Your books have inspired my students as readers. Your books are fantastic classroom discussion starters and are very thoughtful." — Dave Hart, fifth grade teacher, Cathedral City Elementary School, CA
"We loved Margo's workshop on writing! She had our staff actively participating and engaging in the writing process. Her activities created an environment where our staff felt safe and motivated to write, and Margo showed us that writing can be fun. We are now ready to share that message with our students. MAHALO, Margo!" —Jan Iwase, Principal, Hale Kula, Wahiawa, HI
"These children could really relate to her time capsule history and knew the characters and wanted more. One little boy touched my heart as he told Margo that he read the book and it encouraged him because he was a Hispanic boy and this man did great things." — Gail Lester, Branch Manager, Cathedral City Library
"Thank you for the most wonderful morning you spent with our students. Our students are eager to read more of your books. They learned from you the process a writer goes through and we hope to invite you back to spend time working with smaller groups, focusing on the writing process." — Christine Brennan, Asst. Principal, Harry S. Truman Elementary School, La Quinta, CA
